Take care of your mind, your body, and your spirit and your life will be full and balanced.
A friend of mine, Sharlene really wants a Rolex watch. I think they cost about $10,000. (I’m not sure as I’ve never priced one and don’t want to spend my time checking!) In fact, that is one of her important GOALS. I am not sure why she wants one but if I had to guess, I assume she equates owning a Rolex with wealth, status, and prestige.
I’ve taken this approach, I don’t evaluate my ideas too much, but just dive in. That eradicates the possibility that I’ll avoid new activities because I’m scared. I assume that I’m talented and smart enough to achieve my goals.
I’m a champion of maintaining a positive attitude and persisting in spite of difficulty. But sometimes it’s wiser to throw in the towel. Now, might be one of those times.
I worked hard at my job, and in the evenings and weekends, I worked hard at my second job, eBay. If I wasn’t at the computer, I was dragging my very patient husband and son to the mall so I could shop for kids’ clothes.
We all have the power to make a difference.
This one is my favorite. Although I don’t get down too often, when I do, I wonder whether I’m impacting others. She reminded me that the number of people one helps is not the issue. You are important if you make a difference in one person’s life, twenty, or millions.
Whatever is going on in her life, good, bad or otherwise, she will see the bright side. On top of that, if I want or need something from her, the answer is YES. She is chatty, helpful, and involved. When I was growing up she worked in real estate, raised my sis and me (with the help of my dad), and gave back to the community.
If you pull out your money when the market drops, you lock in the “paper loss” and make it real. Compound the loss with declining to invest during a low price environment. Furthermore, you have another decision to make; when to get back in the market? That is the most difficult question of all.
Yet, I rarely explore the philosophical aspects of money. After all, the only real value in money is what you can trade it for. If you were stuck out in the dessert with no water and $500.00, what good would money be? If you had no transportation and the water was 100 miles away, your $500.00 would be worthless. You’d probably we willing to trade it all for a thermos of water.
